Go Fish Rules

Go Fish is a simple and classic card game where players try to collect pairs of cards by asking opponents for specific ranks. The game continues until all pairs are matched, and the player with the most pairs at the end wins

Objective: The goal of Go Fish is to collect as many pairs of matching cards through asking opponents for specific cards

Setup:

  1. Typically played with 3 to 6 players and it is very family friendly

  2. Use a standard 52-card deck.

  3. Choose a dealer. The deal rotates clockwise in subsequent rounds.

  4. The dealer shuffles the deck and deals 5 cards to each player if there are 4 or more players, and 7 cards if there are 3 players

Instructions

Step 1

Players look at their hands and remove any pairs of matching cards, placing them face up in front of them

Step 2

The player to the left of the dealer goes first. On a turn, a player asks any opponent for a specific rank of card (e.g., "Do you have any 8s?")

Step 3

If the opponent has the requested card, they must give it to the asking player, who gets another turn. The player can then ask any opponent for another card

However, if the opponent does not have the requested card, the asking player must "Go Fish" by drawing a card from the deck. If the drawn card is the card they asked for, they must draw another card before the next player goes

Step 4

Whenever a player collects a pair of matching cards through asking, they place the pair face up in front of them

Step 5

The game continues until all pairs are collected. The player with the most pairs at the end wins

During the game, if a player is left without cards, they may (when it's their turn to play), they must draw from the stock and then ask for card based on what was drawn. If there are no cards left in the stock, they are out of the game

Have fun! :)
