War Rules

War is a card game where players compare cards and the player having the higher numbered card wins and collects both cards. If there's a tie, a "war" is declared

Objective: The goal of the card game War is to win all the cards in the deck by having the highest-ranked cards during battles.

Setup:

  1. Typically played between 2-4 players

  2. War is typically played with a standard 52-card deck

  3. Dealer rotates each round in clockwise

Instructions

Step 1

Dealer shuffles and deals out cards evenly to each player. Each player places their stack of cards face-down in front of them without looking at the cards.

Step 2

Simultaneously, all players reveal the top card of their stack in a central pile. The player with the highest-ranked card wins the round and takes all the cards from the central pile, placing them at the bottom of their stack.

Step 3

If there's a tie for the highest-ranked card (two or more players reveal cards of the same rank), a "war" is declared.

  • In a war, players place three cards face-down and then reveal a fourth card. The player with the highest-ranked fourth card wins all the cards in the war

  • If there's another tie, players filp over their 3rd card to determine the winner

  • The 2nd card is flipped if there's another tie, and then 1st face down card if there's another tie

  • The process repeats itself if ties continue.

Step 4

The game continues until one player has all the cards or until a predetermined time or number of rounds.

Step 5

The player who collects all the cards or wins the most round is the winner

Have fun! :)
